Sexual health is a very private and personal matter for most of us, but is something each sexually active individual should seek to check regularly. At Glasgow Medical Rooms we offer completely private and confidential sexual health screening to test and vaccinate against a range of sexually transmitted infections or diseases.
We offer a comprehensive list of tests for both men and women, undertaken in a relaxed and highly confidential setting. Results are available quickly, usually within a 48-hour period unless otherwise stated.
If you’re looking for sexual health screening in Glasgow city centre, we can provide the following services:
The cervical smear, also known as Papanicolaou or Pap smear, is the method of detecting abnormal (potentially pre-cancerous cells and cancerous processes in the cervix, in order to prevent cervical cancer.
A private appointment for a cervical smear test in Glasgow Medical Rooms takes just 30 minutes. You should receive your result within 5-7 working days.
We provide private HIV test and HIV screening at Glasgow Medical Rooms. Following tests, results are available within 24 hours. Your results are 100% confidential and your NHS GP will NOT be informed of the test results unless you wish them to be.
In the practice, we offer HIV DUO test. This involves 28-day HIV testing for exposures occurring 28 days before your HIV test. The results are expected within 1-2 days. The test looks for antibodies for HIV-1 and HIV-2, and also looks for evidence of the p24 protein which is on the surface of the HIV particle.
We offer standard STI screening, with a test which covers all the common sexually transmitted infections. These include:
Our hepatitis screening tests at Glasgow Medical Rooms cover Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. Again, test results are usually available within 2-3 working days. Additional Syphilis testing can also be carried out if required.
The HPV vaccination is an important step towards preventing cervical cancer. The Gardasil HPV vaccine we provide protects against both cervical cancer and genital warts, so there are benefits for men receiving this vaccine too. For more information, visit our vaccines page.
