With over 14 years’ experience administering anti-wrinkle injections in Glasgow, Dr Sheila O’Neill is a trusted professional you can rely on to perform this procedure with the maximum of care. Contrary to the general public belief, it is only very small amounts of toxin that are used to obtain the desired cosmetic results. In actual fact, much larger amounts of botulinum are used to treat medical conditions such as migraines or facial asymmetry. As a result, the side effects are very rare.
An anti-wrinkle injection is a protein that helps to stop muscle spasm. It works by blocking the signal from the nerves to the muscles, softening the facial lines. Procedures available include:
- Forehead – ‘worry lines’ formed when we raise our eyebrows
- Glabellar – ‘frown lines’ appearing in the area between our eyebrows
- Crow’s feet – the areas around the outside of the eyes
- Bunny lines – wrinkles at the bridge of the nose
The initial anti-wrinkle injection appointment lasts for approximately 1 hour. Each treatment thereafter lasts for around 30 minutes. Downtime is very short, with the main symptoms experienced being some redness and discomfort, as well as slight swelling at the injection site. It takes around 2-3 days for the effects to be noticed, with the full effect of the treatment achieved within 2 weeks.
How long do anti wrinkle injections last?
Results usually last 3-4 months, but this can be longer after receiving repeated treatments. Individual results vary.

Bunny lines are the creases that appear when the nose wrinkles up – for example, when we sniff or smell something. The careful placement of anti-wrinkle injections at either side of the nose can reduce the appearance of these bunny lines. This is best carried out by an experienced aesthetics practitioner since your smile can be affected if they are not carried out properly.
Lipstick lines / Barcode lines / Downturned angles of mouth
Lipstick lines are fine lines around the mouth that become more apparent with age.
Although often treated with dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections can also treat this area and a combination of the two treatments is usually followed.
The same treatment combination can be used to correct downturned angles of the mouth, correcting a sad mouth appearance.
For other lines around the mouth, most practitioners recommend the use of dermal fillers to smooth the wrinkles, creating a smooth surface to the skin.
Lip injections price:
Lips 0.55ml – £180 (45 minute consultation with Dr/Nurse)
Lips 1ml – £250 (45 minute consultation with Dr/Nurse)
Hyperhidrosis / Excessive underarm sweating
Anti-wrinkle injections are an effective way to treat excessive sweating under the arms.
It works by blocking the chemical at the end of the nerves so that it cannot work on the glands or muscles.
In the case of the sweat glands, it turns them off to reduce sweating.
It requires multiple small injections of the toxin a few centimetres apart in each armpit.
Results take 2 weeks to occur and can last often for 6-9 months.
Hyperhidrosis injections price:
Hyperhidrosos – £400 (45 minute consultation with Dr)
“I have had persistent neck and shoulder discomfort for some time. Regular visits to my local GP did not help. I was recommended to see Dr Sheila O’Neil who gave me a check-up and recommended that I see her physiotherapist colleague, Vicky Graham. I have had three sessions of physiotherapy and have regained full mobility in my neck and shoulders and feel a great deal better. I am very grateful to Dr Sheila and expect, with my husband, to sign up with her as regular patients.”Mrs Johnston
We took our 2 year old son in to see Dr O’Neill for a meningitis B vaccination recently. Due to shortages of the vaccine, we had been on a waiting list with a well-known high street pharmacist for months without knowing when they would get stock in. We came across Glasgow Medical Rooms who had the vaccination and we managed to get our son booked in the next day. The clinic was very smart and easy to access in the city centre too. Dr O’Neill was great at dealing with our toddler. It was a relief to get the jabs sorted so quickly and would highly recommend the service to others.”Mrs Crawford
I would like to thank Dr O’Neill very much for her time today: I get the impression that she is a very caring professional, knowledgeable and reassuring, and that she makes explaining conditions crystal clear, which is exactly what is needed for an anxious patient like myself. The staff that I met were all extremely welcoming, well-groomed and helpful too. Add to this the very relaxing and beautifully scented ambience and it was really a truly positive and pleasant visit. Thank you.Linnea Blair
“Dr. Sheila O’Neill and her team quite literally saved my life. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Diagnosis of a serious condition that had been misdiagnosed by three hospitals took less than 2 weeks, including an MRI. Setting aside the professionalism, they are also just extremely nice people. Imagine a GP that truly cares and will be calling the patient after hours to see how they are getting on – that is what I got from Dr. Sheila O’Neill. There are no superlatives that adequately describe the service. Great. Fantastic. Superb.”GMK Group
