Medical Services for Men
The emphasis in healthcare, in general, has shifted focus to prevention and wellbeing. Men, now more than ever, are encouraged to be active participants in their wellbeing. As such, Glasgow Medical Rooms offers a number of private healthcare services tailored specifically for men.
These services include:
• Well Man Medical
• Testicular Cancer Test
• Prostate assessments
• Erectile dysfunction
A Well Man Screen is a fully comprehensive medical examination including screening tests for the advanced detection of medical conditions and diseases to give you peace of mind about your health. It focuses on the male organs and will also include a full sexual health screen if required.
Well Man Screens provide you with a discrete opportunity to discuss any health concerns you have with a private GP and seek medical advice in a confidential setting.
Testicular Cancer Screening & Testicular Cancer Test
We offer testicular cancer screening for examination – and private referral for an ultrasound for testicular lumps and testicular cancer symptoms. There are various causes of symptoms, such as testicular pain and/or lumps. Most of these lumps are benign but should be examined and treated. Cancer of the testicles normally affects young men aged between 20 and 55. However, seek medical advice if you suffer any symptoms, no matter what your age.
If you feel a lump or would just like peace of mind, please contact our clinic for a testicular cancer screening appointment. You will have a consultation and examination, and if necessary an urgent referral for a testicular cancer test can be arranged.
Prostate Assessments & Health
Prostate cancer is the second most common cause of death by cancer and the most common cancer in men in the UK. One of the main factors increasing the likelihood of developing prostate cancer is age. Early symptoms of prostate cancer do vary but the most common ones include having to rush to the toilet to pass urine, difficulty passing urine, blood in the urine or passing urine more often – especially at night.
We encourage those aged 40+ or with a family history of prostate cancer to have regular checks and Prostate Assessments. At Glasgow Medical Rooms we offer medical examinations and blood tests to help understand and manage your risk of prostate cancer. The test is a specific antigen test. If you are interested in having this prostate cancer risk assessment, please avoid ejaculation for 48 hours before taking the test.
Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile Dysfunction is a very common condition – around half of all men aged between 40 and 70 will experience it at some point. It can usually be a symptom of a wider health problem, which makes it all the more important to investigate the cause with an experienced doctor. It is important to seek advice about your ED treatment and Dr O’Neill is experienced in dealing with erectile and sexual dysfunction. A number of treatment options are available to you, including prescribed medication, referral for private psychosexual counselling which can be done in-house, or specialist private referrals for more complex cases.
