Medical Services for Women
The emphasis in healthcare has shifted focus towards prevention & wellbeing. A full understanding of available screening tests ensures that women are empowered from adolescence to menopause and onwards, so that they can be active participants in their wellbeing. As such, Glasgow Medical Rooms offers a number of private medical services tailored specifically for women. These include:
• Well Woman Medical Screening
• Breast Cancer Screening
• Cervical Smear
A Well Woman Screen is a fully comprehensive medical examination including screening tests for the early detection of medical conditions and diseases to offer you peace of mind about your health. It is focused at the female organs and will also include a full sexual health screen if required.
Well Woman Screens provide you with a discrete opportunity to discuss any health concerns you have with a private GP and seek medical advice in a confidential setting.
Breast Cancer Screening
More than 50,000 UK women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. Breast cancer screening aims to identify breast cancers early. The likelihood of developing breast cancer is contingent on a number of factors including things like age, genes, hormones, alcohol intake, and many more. However, many more patients who are diagnosed with the illness are surviving it, due to more effective treatment and improved detection through breast cancer screening at an early stage.
It’s not always simple to get an NHS GP appointment, certainly not as fast as you might like. At Glasgow Medical Rooms, we offer same day private GP appointments which can include consultations, breast cancer screening examinations, advice and urgent referrals for ultrasounds and mammograms if necessary. The Pap smear or Cervical smear test is now the most important screening test to prevent cervical cancer. It is advised that women regularly book in an appointment for a smear test every 3 years, and sooner if abnormal cells are shown. Smear tests are recommended for women from the age of 18 and above, or earlier if they are sexually active.
