How do I make an appointment?

How long does a GP appointment last?
Initial GP consultations last 30 mins. If you have multiple concerns then we can extend this appointment.
What happens when I arrive for my GP appointment?
Upon arrival at our clinic you will be greeted by our reception staff. At this stage we will provide you with any additional documentation that needs to be completed prior to your appointment.
Do you treat children at Glasgow Medical Rooms?
Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that our private GP service is only available for patients aged 16 and over. We do, however, offer the chicken pox vaccination to children from 12 months.
Are you required to be registered as a patient to get an appointment?
No, you are able to book an appointment with one of our clinicians on a one-off basis. You will be asked to complete some personal details prior or at the time of your appointment. Additionally, the clinician, on occasions, may require further documentation but you will be made aware of this at the time of booking.
What are the costs and how do I pay?

All appointments now require payment at the time of booking in order to secure your slot. The amount payable will depend on the type of appointment and will be confirmed by our team when booking.
For many appointments, this will be the full consultation fee, while some services may require a different upfront payment structure depending on the nature of the appointment.
Any additional tests, including blood tests and laboratory investigations, will be discussed with you during your appointment and are only carried out and charged if you choose to proceed.
If a follow-up appointment is recommended, this will be arranged and paid for at the time of booking.
We believe this approach provides greater clarity around costs while ensuring you only pay for the tests and services that are appropriate for you.

Are you part of the Sandyford?
No, we are not part of the NHS Sandyford Clinic. We do however offer a Private Sexual Health Clinic. Please refer to our website or contact our team.
Are you part of the NHS?
No, we are not part of the NHS. If you are looking to register with an NHS GP, please go to the NHS Scotland Inform website – Registering with a GP.
Do you share information with my NHS GP?
No, we will not share any information with your NHS GP unless consent is given.
Can I have an NHS GP and a Private GP?
Yes, you can have both an NHS GP and consult with a Private GP. No information will be shared unless consent is given.
Do you deal with Insurance companies?
No, we do not work directly with insurance companies. Patients are required to pay their invoice in full and then claim reimbursement from their insurer. We recommend confirming with your insurance provider in the first instance to avoid any disappointment.
Do you see international/ visiting patients?
Yes, we are able to see patients from outside the UK.
If I am an international visitor or visiting patient, can I get a prescription from Glasgow Medical Rooms?
Yes, you will require a consultation with the Nurse in the first instance. The clinician may ask for supporting documentation prior to any appointment.
Do you carry out ultrasounds?
No, we do not have the facility within our clinic to carry out ultrasounds. However, after an consultation with a Private GP, you may be referred to one of the local Private Hospitals to get this carried out.

Do you have parking?
There is local on street parking outside the Clinic that can be paid via RingGo. We unfortunately do not have a customer accessible car park.
Can I get treatment/ Vaccine for COVID?
No, NHS are solely responsible for COVID treatment and vaccinations.
Do you provide emergency treatments?
Please be aware that we do not provide a 24-hour ‘out of hours’ service. Our service is not intended for medical emergencies. If you require urgent medical assistance, please contact 111 or 999, or go to the nearest A&E.
