Oil & Gas Medicals

Anyone working offshore in Norwegian or UK waters is required to have an Oil & Gas Medical Certificate. Glasgow Medical Rooms is on the Oil & Gas UK Register of Examining Doctors.

OGUK medical certificates have been recognised for use within Norwegian waters since 2013 and certificates are valid for two years, unless you have a medical reason for a restriction. You can renew your OGUK medical certificate with us by making an appointment in advance. Glasgow Medical Rooms will issue you with your certificate at the end of your appointment.

The OPITO BOSIET, FOET and HUET Courses are each changing and will now include in-water training with the CA-EBS. This new element requires additional medical tests for delegates, which will be captured via a “Fit to Train” certificate.

Please advise us when booking the appointment that it is for an OGUK medical examination.

OGUK Medicals: All You Need to Know

What you need for OGUK medical appointment

You’ll be asked the following:

  • to complete a short form with your medical history
  • to show a form of photo ID

The OGUK Medical Health Screening involves:

  • A physical examination
  • An audiometry (hearing) test
  • A spirometry (breathing) test
  • A urine screen

Fit to Train Certificate

The OPITO BOSIET, FOET and HUET Courses are both changing and will now include in-water training with the CA-EBS. This new element requires additional medical tests for delegates, which will be captured via a “Fit to Train” certificate.

This needs to be completed before you can partake in the BOSIET, FOET or HUET Courses. Delegates will need to complete a questionnaire asking about respiratory, ear, nose and throat checks and a lung health assessment which will be assessed in a face-to-face medical assessment with an OGUK Examining Private GP.

This OGUK medical assessment will be offered stand-alone or combined with the Oil & Gas Medical.
