Dermal fillers in Glasgow
The latest injectable treatments are easy to administer, long-lasting, and designed for subtlety. They’re also perfectly safe. Dermal fillers are gels injected beneath the skin’s surface to smooth wrinkles and add volume.
The products are made of hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in the cells of the skin. It works by drawing in water and therefore augmenting the skin, thus reducing the wrinkle treated.
At Glasgow Medical Rooms, we offer Dermal Fillers or face fillers and can be used to treat the following areas:
• Corners of the mouth (Oral commissure)
• Smoker lines
• Mouth to chin lines (Marionette lines)
• Nose to mouth lines (Nasolabial lines)
What happens during the treatment?
Following a consultation with our Private GP in Glasgow, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the area prior to the treatment to negate any discomfort.
The dermal filler is then injected with a very fine needle under the skin surface.
This treatment takes around 30 minutes and the effects are immediate.
After the treatment, the area may be slightly red and swollen and bruising may occur. However, you can resume normal activities and drive yourself home or return to work immediately after the treatment.
The risk of an allergic reaction is very rare. Allergic reactions can be treated with corticosteroids or the product removed using an injectable enzyme.
Avoid excessive exercise for 24 hours.
How long do dermal fillers last?
The results should last for 6-9 months on average.
There are many different reasons for looking into lip filler treatment, most commonly being to enhance the appearance of lips, uneven lips or to plump up lost volume. This lost volume could be due to the natural ageing process.
Lip fillers are hyaluronic acid-based and are generally very well tolerated with minimal reaction from the tissues of your lip, aside from some localised swelling. Lip fillers generally last from 6-18 months depending on product used as they are reabsorbed by your body however, this is subjective and different with every patient.
Some people desire a subtle increase in lip size that appears natural, whereas others, especially younger women, prefer a more augmented look. Lips fillers are the perfect non-surgical treatment for restoring a loss of fullness in the lips, defining the shape and increasing the existing volume.
PRICE: Lip filler from £175
Cheek fillers do the job of lifting those sunken areas. Causes for loss of volume in the face are both age and genetically related.
The filler is made of hyaluronic acid and is temporary, lasting up to 1 year. It gives a boost to low volume areas.
It reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles whilst also restoring more youthful and attractive facial contours.
A tear trough is a deep crease between the lower eyelid and upper cheek. It can cast a shadow below your eyes, resulting in a tired appearance. Some people think their tear troughs make them look older. In others, tear troughs become more prominent with age. That’s because facial tissues lose volume as you get older.
For some it is also caused by the lifestyle that they lead which causes skin laxity to age prematurely. The tear troughs appear deeper when dark circles under the eyes are present.
The treatment of tear troughs is with dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid. It is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment – the area is injected with hyaluronic acid which works to boost collagen production and replace the lost volume brought about through the ageing process.
PRICE: Tear troughs from £325
Chin Filler can enhance the overall appearance of the chin area. Dermal filler can be injected into the chin to stiffen the skin. This defines the chin and jowl area, lessening the weakness of a weak chin.
Chin filler can lengthen and enhance the lower facial appearance creating a more balanced profile.
The results last 9-12 months and sometimes longer
People who feel dissatisfied with the look of their jawline or chin may wish to add definition to that area. Jaw fillers, an injected type of dermal filler, can provide a non-surgical solution.
A soft-looking chin and jaw can be caused by age or genetics. Jaw fillers which contain hyaluronic acid can add definition, symmetry, balance, or contour to this area, especially in profile.
Jaw fillers are gels that get injected into the skin. They provide volume and stimulate hyaluronic acid or collagen production. This can lessen the appearance of sagging, baggy skin, and bone loss around the jaw.
Jaw filler can be used to:
* reduce the effects of age-related volume loss in the lower face
* create a more oval-looking jawline
* reduce the appearance of jowls
* contour the jawline, giving it a sharper appearance
* balance an asymmetrical jawline
* strengthen or add proportion to the chin
* provide a strong foundation and frame for the face
* Jaw filler results are immediately visible.
* Individual results vary, but for many users, hyaluronic acid filler may last as long as 2 years.
“I have had persistent neck and shoulder discomfort for some time. Regular visits to my local GP did not help. I was recommended to see Dr Sheila O’Neil who gave me a check-up and recommended that I see her physiotherapist colleague, Vicky Graham. I have had three sessions of physiotherapy and have regained full mobility in my neck and shoulders and feel a great deal better. I am very grateful to Dr Sheila and expect, with my husband, to sign up with her as regular patients.”Mrs Johnston
I would like to thank Dr O’Neill very much for her time today: I get the impression that she is a very caring professional, knowledgeable and reassuring, and that she makes explaining conditions crystal clear, which is exactly what is needed for an anxious patient like myself. The staff that I met were all extremely welcoming, well-groomed and helpful too. Add to this the very relaxing and beautifully scented ambience and it was really a truly positive and pleasant visit. Thank you.Linnea Blair
“Dr. Sheila O’Neill and her team quite literally saved my life. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Diagnosis of a serious condition that had been misdiagnosed by three hospitals took less than 2 weeks, including an MRI. Setting aside the professionalism, they are also just extremely nice people. Imagine a GP that truly cares and will be calling the patient after hours to see how they are getting on – that is what I got from Dr. Sheila O’Neill. There are no superlatives that adequately describe the service. Great. Fantastic. Superb.”GMK Group
