You Asked, We Answered: FAQs About Private GP Services at Our Practice

Providing clear, helpful answers to the most common questions about private GP services helps our patients feel confident and informed about what to expect. Here are some of our most frequently asked questions—and our answers.

  1. How do I register, and how does booking work?

You do not need to register as a patient with ourselves to make an appointment. Before your first appointment, you’ll complete a simple form to collect your personal details and a health questionnaire. This can be done online or, if necessary, at the clinic. Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive a confirmation email—please check spam folders, and contact us if you don’t receive it. A £30 deposit is collected by phone at least 24 hours before your appointment to secure your slot; otherwise, the appointment is released.

  1. Will seeing a private GP affect my NHS registration or access to records?

No — using our services does not affect your NHS GP registration. We encourage you to stay registered with your NHS practice for emergency care and continuity. We cannot access your NHS records directly, though you may request a summary from your NHS GP if you wish us to review your medical history. Otherwise, we’ll take a full medical history during consultation. Only with your express consent will we share information with your NHS GP.

  1. How long are consultations, and what do they cost?
  • A GP consultation lasts 30 minutes and costs £165.
  • Longer consultations are available for complex or multiple health concerns.
  1. How quickly can I get an appointment?

We offer same- or next-day appointments whenever possible. Our online booking system makes scheduling straightforward, and same-day consultations are often available depending on demand. You can check our availability using our online booking system through our website.

  1. What about tests, prescriptions, and referrals?

If further investigations are needed—such as blood tests, imaging, or specialist referral—these can be arranged privately. The costs for these tests are separate from the consultation fee and will be explained in advance.

Prescriptions may be issued at the doctor’s discretion during consultation. You’ll receive a private prescription to take or send to any pharmacy. Please note repeat prescriptions or medication initiated elsewhere may require documentation or a follow-up consultation.

  1. Will you work with my health insurance?

We do not bill insurers directly. Payments are made at the time of consultation. We provide detailed receipts so you can claim reimbursement through your insurer if covered by your policy.

  1. What if I’m under 16 or need emergency care?

Our services are only available for patients aged 16 and over.
We do not provide emergency or out‑of‑hours services. If you require urgent care, please dial 111 or 999, or visit your nearest A&E department.

  1. What happens when I arrive at the clinic?

On arrival, you’ll be greeted by our reception team. If you haven’t already provided your health questionnaire, you’ll complete it before seeing your GP. You’ll then meet your clinician for your scheduled appointment.
